Hyderabad: CCTV footage helped the Chatrinaka police on Saturday nab three persons, including a woman, in connection with a theft committed on June 25. The police recovered gold and silver ornaments worth Rs.2.4 lakh as well from them.
Police said the suspects, Onteddu Krishna, 28, a centering worker; Manga Swaroopa alias Manjula, 31, a labourer; and Vuddari Raju alias Rajesh, also a labourer, were all residents of Asmangadh. The trio were arrested based on a complaint lodged by T.Laxmi, a resident of Shivaji Nagar, Uppuguda on June 26, stating that she had gone to her friend’s house at Dilsuknagar and returned the next morning. The door was found broken, with gold, silver and cash as well, all together worth Rs.2.4 lakh, missing.
About 54 cameras are installed in the Chatrinaka police station area, of which the one near Krishnaveni Talent School, Shivaji Nagar, helped the police crack the case.
“During investigation, CCTV footage of five hours was collected and examined. The complainant identified Manjula, whom she knew earlier. Their mobile phones were tracked and their tower locations obtained. Based on the clues, the trio was nabbed from near Asmangadh TV tower,” said Mohammed Tajuddin Ahmed, ACP, Falaknuma Division.
The three suspects were produced before court, after which they were remanded in judicial custody.
