Hyderabad: The prime suspect in the murder of D-Mart saleswoman B. Janaki has been arrested.
Anand alias Ananthappa, the suspect who allegedly murdered the 24-year-old Janaki was reportedly tracked down by the Kukatpally Police late on Wednesday night, barely a day after the murder.
Kukatpally Sub-Inspector J Narayan Singh said Anand was taken into custody on Wednesday night and produced before court on Thursday.
During initial questioning, Anand reportedly confessed to the murder, stating that the plan to eliminate Janaki was hatched after she repeatedly rejected his proposal for marriage.
“He has confessed his crime. We have recovered the knife he used to murder her as well,” Singh said, adding that the court has remanded Anand in judicial custody.
