Helping Hand Foundation sets up help-desk to guide patients at Covid centres

Hyderabad: Helping Hand Foundation, the public health voluntary organisation, has set-up help-desk services at District Hospital, King Koti, Osmania General Hospital (OGH) and Chest Hospital, Erragadda.

The desk at King Koti hospital has a team of three counsellors at the entrance and inside the hospital to provide vital help and guidance to patients who visit the hospital for Covid-19 testing.

“Patients coming for Covid testing need to be advised about the process of getting tested. There is a need to provide proper guidance at the entry point and help them maintain safe distance in queues,” says founder, HHF, Mujtaba Hasan Askari.

The help desk also tries to identify elderly and other high risk patients who need immediate attention and facilitate them in getting the test done. There is a separate line for patients with shortness of breath.

At Government Chest Hospital and OGH, the HHF counsellors guide patients to carry their mobile phones and essential medicines inside the isolation wards. Patient attenders are counselled to stay calm and cooperate with the hospital doctors. Basically, the counsellors act as a link between doctors and attenders, Askari added.
