Nalgonda/Yadadri-Bhongir: Minister for Irrigation and Marketing T Harish Rao on Tuesday cautioned that the people would teach a lesson to the opposition parties trying to create hurdles in development programmes in the State.
Speaking at a meeting after laying the foundation stone for a mosambi market at Gandamvarigudem on the outskirts of Nalgonda, Harish Rao said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has sanctioned three markets including a mosambi market in Nalgonda, a lemon market in Nakrekal and tindora market in Devarakonda. He further announced that the mosambi market in Nalgonda would be upgraded as a fruit market with another Rs 3 crore. A cold storage facility would also be provided to the farmers at the market, he added.
He also informed that water from the Kaleshwaram project would be supplied to Suryapet, Kodad and Thungathurthy areas by next year. In addition to this, water pumping at Brahmana Vellemla project of Udhaya Samudram balancing reservoir would also commence in 2018. He attributed the delay in completion of the project to the cases filed by the Congress leaders in the courts on land acquisition and objected to the behavior of Komatireddy Venkat Reddy at the programme.
Earlier in the day, Rao launched the repair works of Bhunadigani canal at Anajipuram village in Yadadri-Bhongir district.
Speaking at a meeting organised on the occasion, he said that the works on the canal were taken up at a cost of Rs 285 crore to irrigate 60,000 acres. He informed that the works would be completed within six months and that it would ensure irrigation for crops for two seasons in the area.
Minister for Power G Jagadish Reddy, MPs Gutha Sukender Reddy and Boora Narsaiah Goud, MLAs Vemula Veeresham and N Bhasker Rao, MLCs Pula Ravindar and Karne Prabhakar and several TRS leaders were also present at the programme.
