Gowtham School emerge champs

Hyderabad: In a low-scoring final, Gowtham Model School defeated Delhi Public School by 11 runs to win the under-14 inter-schools cricket tournament that concluded at Gymkhana grounds on Friday.

Electing to bat, Gowtham scored 128 in 41.1 overs. Saketh Reddy top scored with 31. P Sumeeth and Manish took four and three wickets apiece.

Chasing a modest target, DPS were bundled out for 117 in 44.1 overs. Aaron George resisted for a brief while before being dismissed for 26. S Suraj took three wickets for Gowtham School.

Former Hyderabad Ranji skipper and International Ambati Rayudu distributed the prizes to the winners.

Open selection for U-16 girls
The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) will conduct an open selection for under-16 women’s cricketers on Saturday (1 pm to 5.30 pm) and Sunday (10 am to 1 pm) at Gymkhana grounds. The State team that will play in the Nationals, will be selected after the trials.
