Karimnagar: Education and health are important for human beings and one cannot possibly buy them by spending money, said Governor ESL Narasimhan.

Governor was speaking at the valedictory of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Vaniniketan Vidhyasamithi held at Circus Grounds here on Saturday.

He said people could lead a happy life if their health condition was good. On the other hand, education makes one a real human being, he said and added that country would go forward only with education.

“People learn basic fundamentals such as discipline, values and others through education. And, people can get respect from others only through education,” he said.

“Discipline is important to get success in life. Children learn discipline from their parents if the latter are leading a systematic life,” he said.

Recollecting some of his school days, Governor said school life was memorable and important as that’s where the foundation for life was laid.

“People should not forget their roots. Holding a top post is temporary and people must be recognised for their individual capabilities but not as Governor or Minister or Chief Minister,” he said.

He appreciated former students of Vaniniketan for celebrating 81st birthday of its chairman Ayodya Rama Rao on a grand scale marking the Gold Jubilee celebrations of the institution.

“It is nothing but a ‘gurudakshina’. Gurudakshina is not money. It is giving respect to teachers,” he said.
