Hyderabad: The East Zone Task Force jointly with the Hussaini Alam police on Wednesday nabbed a three-member gang on charges of preparing fake land registration documents and selling old and outdated non-judicial stamp papers.

The arrested were identified as Mohd Sajid Akbar, Mir Shakir Ali and Syed Azeem. Three others — Mujeeb Khan, Mohd Wasi and Zaheer, were absconding.

According to the police, Akbar and Azeem were arrested following a tip-off, while they were preparing fake land documents at Hussaini Alam. During interrogation they revealed that Shakir Ali, an agent, had identified open plots in old ventures, collected their photocopies and asked Akbar to prepare fake documents on a commission basis. Akbar procured used old stamp papers of various denominations from Mujeeb Khan for Rs 1,000 each and got fake rubber stamps prepared by Zaheer.

“Using ink removers, he erased the written matter on the stamp papers and prepared fake documents. They also forged signatures of government officials with the help of Syed Azeem,” the police said adding that the documents were later handed over to Mir Shakir Ali who further sold it to litigants and real estate brokers thus cheating genuine owners.

Akbar, who was arrested in a similar case, was released last year and had resumed the criminal activity with the help of his associates, the police said.
