Nalgonda: Collector Gaurav Uppal on Monday exhorted fishermen to adopt new technologies in hunting.

Distributing 220 auto trucks and mopeds to fishermen at a programme in Nalgonda under the Integrated Fisheries Development Scheme, Uppal said that fishermen should utilise government schemes meant for them. He reminded that the State government has sanctioned Rs 51 crore to the district under the scheme. He pointed out that the Fisheries Department was releasing fishlings into the water bodies for the benefit of the State government and that the government was also extending trays and marketing tents to fishermen for the purpose of storage and sale of fish, he added.

Stating that fishermen would face loss due to brokers and middlemen in selling fish, Superintendent of Police A V Ranganath asked the fishermen to stay united to protect their interests. He underlined the need for development of the fisheries sector in the State.
