Farmer climbs water tank to commit suicide in Kalwasrirampur

Peddapalli: Close on the heels of a farmer commmitting suicide, another farmer climbed an overhead water tank to commit suicide in Kalwasrirampur mandal on Tuesday, but was dissuaded by Tahsildhar Sunitha to come down. He was allegedly upset over the indifferent attitude of revenue officials.

Ganta Sathish, a native of Ippalapalli, Kalwsrirampur mandal, owns 30 guntas of land in the village. The land is in the name of his father, and he had applied for the transfer of ownership on his name. Instead of transferring the land on his name, five guntas of land was registered on another person’s name. Enraged by this, Sathish climbed the overhead water tank in the village with a petrol bottle and threatened to commit suicide.

On coming to know about the incident, Sunitha spoke to Sathish over phone and assured that his problem would be solved. Convinced by the Tahsildhar’s assurance, Sathish got down from the tank.

A few days ago, Raji Reddy, a farmer, committed suicide by consuming pesticide in front of the Tahsildhar’s office.
