Don’t depend on middlemen: Harish Rao tells farmers

Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao inaugurated a bengal gram procurement centre at Dacharam village in Gajwel mandal on Monday and urged farmers not to depend on middlemen to sell their produce.

Speaking on the occasion, Harish said the State government under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was giving utmost priority to the procurement of agricultural produce notwithstanding the Coronavirus crisis.

The Minister said the government was combating Coronavirus on one hand and making arrangements for the procurement of agri produce on the another. He said the Chief Minster phoned Prime Minister Narendra Modi to help them get the gunny bags from West Bengal, only State which produces them.

Harish said the Chief Minister was personally monitoring every development regarding the farm sector. He said they had fixed Rs 4,875 as MSP for black gram. The Minister asked the police to issue special passes to farmers who were visiting vegetable markets to sell their produce.
