Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Dr SK Joshi on Tuesday directed officials to make elaborate arrangements for the fourth International kite and sweet festival scheduled to be held from January 13 to January 15 at Parade grounds.
The CS held a review meeting on festival arrangements at State Secretariat. He said that “the three day festival will witness around three lakh visitors per day. Hence arrangements should be made on par with international standards. Kite experts from 20 countries will participate in the event and women from various States will display around 1,000 varieties of sweets during the sweet festival,” he said.
Arrangements must be made to showcase the brand image of Hyderabad, he said and directed officials to conduct cultural programmes every day. Tourism and Culture Department Secretary B Venkatesham, Hyderabad Commissioner Anjani Kumar, Tourism Commissioner Dinakar Babu, Fire Services Director General Gopala Krishna and Cultural Director M Harikrishna participated in the meeting.

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Joshi asked Agriculture and Tourism Department officials to conduct publicity programmes for International Seed Exhibition and seed symposium which will held at HICC, Hyderabad from June 26 to July 3 this year.
He held a review meeting on arrangements to be made for the international event. He said around 400 international seed and agriculture experts and 200 reputed seed companies will participate in the event. CS said during the meet that the experts will discuss on new products, seed processing packing equipments’, seed treatment and new technology. He said the event will also hold a symposium on seed production and quality where small and medium entrepreneurs from 50 developing countries will participate.
He said the event will be conducted with the cooperation of Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) to bring awareness among the farmers and producers on seed production technics and quality.
ISTA Secretary General Dr Andreas Wais, ICRISAT Director General Peter Carberry, Agriculture Principal Secretary C Parthasarathi, Seed Corporation Director Dr. K Keshavulu and other officials participated in the meeting.
