Nalgonda: Two crest gates of Nagarjunasagar dam were lifted to let off 15,000 cusecs of water on Sunday morning. Telangana Rashtra Rythu Samanvaya Samithi president and Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukender Reddy switched on the button in control board at 8 formally lifting of the two gates.
Speaking on the occasion, Gutha Sukender Reddy said though Nalgonda district witnessed deficit rainfall, Nagarjuna Sagar Project has received the water at the level of full storage capacity that would help the people particularly farmers in a big way. Sriram Sagar Project on Gadavari river and Srisailam, Juarala and Nagarjuna Sagar Projects were brimming with water due to God’s grace. It would benefit the farmers of Teulugu people living in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States.
Reminding that gates of Nagarjuna Sagar were not lifted in the last four years, he has asked the people living in downstream to be alert.
TRS Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly Constituency in-charge Nomula Narsimhaiah and officials of NSP were also attended.
