COVID-19: Two more deaths, 75 new cases in Telangana on Friday

Hyderabad: In the largest single day surge in cases of coronavirus in the State, 75 persons tested Covid-19 positive while two Covid-19 positive persons died on Friday. The 75 who tested positive for coronavirus and the two fatalities include those who were part of the religious congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz, New Delhi, and their close relatives.

With the death of the two persons due to Covid-19 on Friday, the total number of fatalities due to coronavirus in Telangana has gone up to 11 while the total number of persons who so far have tested positive reached 229.

At present, there were 186 active coronavirus patients who were undergoing treatment at the designated government hospitals, including Gandhi Hospital, Fever Hospital, Chest Hospital and the newly refurbished Area Hospital in King Koti.

“We have managed to identify all the persons who came back to Telangana after participating in the Markaz meeting at New Delhi. As instructed by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, we have also identified their relatives and other close contacts who have coronavirus symptoms,” Health Minister Etela Rajender said on Friday.

The relatives and persons who were part of the religious meet in New Delhi have been isolated in various government hospitals across the State, senior health officials. “We are employing all the six laboratories located in Hyderabad for conducting diagnostic tests of the persons who are under isolation. The entire process is being undertaken on a war footing. We have formed teams who are working in three shifts and round-the-clock in these laboratories for us to get the results,” Rajender said.

15 discharged today

On a brighter note, health authorities discharged 15 Covid-19 positive patients, who had completely recovered. With this, the total number of coronavirus positive persons who recovered and were discharged rose to 32 in Telangana.
