Siddipet: A man and his wife, who returned from Mumbai to Venkatraopet village of Thoguta Mandal in Siddipet district, have tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday.

The 48 year-old-man, is a native of Bejagama village in Gajwel Mandal, had migrated to Mumbai a few years ago. On their return on May 16, the family had arrived at Venkatraopet village to stay in the in-law’s home. As the man was suffering from fever, he was taken to a private hospital by relatives in Siddipet town on May 22 where he was diagnosed with typhoid.

He was again taken to a diagnostic centre on May 22 as he failed to recover from fever and he was also suffering from multiple symptoms. The diagnostic centre has alerted the district administration, who shifted the man, his wife, and their son to Hyderabad. The samples of wife and husband tested positive for COVID-19 while their son tested negative.

Meanwhile, the district administration has been working to trace out the primary contacts of the couple. The health department officials have quarantined their relatives. They have also sprayed disinfectants at Venkatraopet village.

Siddipet district has recorded only positive case until today who was already discharged from the hospital.
