Shadnagar/ Nagarkurnool: One more person tested positive for Covid-19 in Farukhnagar locality of Shadnagar on Thursday, raising the total number of positive cases from Shadnagar to 8, all found positive for the virus within a week.

A woman, who was working with her husband at a tiffin centre in Farukhnagar, and was among the attendees of the final rites of a person held at Jiyaguda in Hyderabad on May 12, was quarantined along with her husband on May 23. On Thursday, she tested positive for the virus.

According to Deputy DM&HO Dr Chandu Nayak, the area covering 100 houses in the vicinity of the affected house in Farukhnagar was declared as containment zone and all movements were restricted in that area. Medical and health officials swung into action and took steps to contain the virus in Farukh Nagar, where this was the first coronavirus recorded case since the beginning of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, in a tragic incident, a person who tested positive at Kondareddipally village of Vangoor mandal in Nagarkurnool district died after an alleged failed surgery he underwent at a private hospital on Wednesday night. According to his family members, the person fell down a few days ago, suffering serious head injury. He was taken to a private hospital for surgery on Wednesday night.
