CISF team heads to Srisailam Power Plant blaze site


Hyderabad: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has despatched a 39-member Fire Rescue and Disaster Management team led by Commandant Siddarth Raha with related equipment to carry out rescue operations at the Telangana Srisailam Power Plant, where a major fire broke out on Thursday.

The team has been despatched from the CISF’s National Industrial Security Academy (NISA) at Hakimpet here on Friday morning to the Srisailam dam site upon a request from the Director General (DG), Fire Services, Telangana.

NISA Director CV Anand issued orders for dispatching the team, which left at 8.35 am from NISA on the 245 km journey and reached the dam site at 1pm. They are playing an active role in removing bodies from the tunnel and controlling the fire and smoke, officials said in a statement.
