Hyderabad: As students throng into college campuses in the quest for their best undergraduate courses, choosing the right stream of study stands out as the biggest challenge. Some of the biggest questions haunting every student’s mind are: What do we do next? What are your prospective career options? Which courses should we apply for? So on and so forth.

While some of them might be sure about what they want to do next because of their set career ambitions, others might be still confused about choosing the right course. According to educationalists, those who are unaware of their area of interest, it is always clever to start with working on the subjects they are good at and choose a stream related to that subject.

Be it Arts, Commerce, Science, Humanities, Mathematics or even English, Biology or Geography, there are career choices at the end of every subject. On various career options one can choose after class 12, T Muralidharan, TMI Group- Consultant, Columnist and Author on careers said, “For those want to choose B.Com or BBA, the number of opportunities Commerce provides is massive. Be it marketing, banking, travel and tourism or even teaching, people who choose commerce are venturing into various branches.”

Similarly, there are many options open for students who love the subject Biology, Physics, Chemistry or even Maths. And even if you have Humanities or Arts background, you can qualify for a variety of creative courses, he said.

“While Medicine is the widely chosen career path, there is a great scope for application oriented courses as well. Subjects like Microbiology and Biotechnology are at high points of research and development,” Muralidharan said.

The opportunities for Maths are immense, educationalists in the city say adding if you are good with numbers, Engineering is not the lone open field.
