Cellestial E-Mobility working on electric tractor

GREEN DRIVE: The tractor-in-the-making will suit horticultural or greenhouse works and for moving goods within factories.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad-based startup Cellestial E-Mobility said is in advance stage of developing electric tractors. It has launched business its operations in May this year armed with an initial funding of $200,000 from angel investor Meka Sudhakar Reddy, a Singapore-based NRI.

“We are readying to roll out the first prototype in a 1 onth,” Siddhartha Durairajan, Founder Promoter of Cellestial E-Mobility said. The battery runtime could be two hours and the capacity will be 24HP.

The tractor in the making will suit horticultural or greenhouse works, for moving goods within factories and hauling luggage at airports. It has a capacity to build 100 e-mobility heavy vehicles and will increase it with demand.

Government’s efforts to give a push to electric vehicles, decreasing battery costs, technological advances in charging infrastructure and new business models are positive for the sector, he said adding that the EV segment presents a big opportunity for Indian manufacturers.

According to industry estimates by 2030, as many as 40% of new vehicles sold in India could be battery-powered. The number of just EVs sold in India in 2030 is expected to exceed the total number of vehicles sold in India in 2016, which is pegged around 22 million.

The team also includes Syed Mubasheer, who has experience in the battery domain. He holds a record for running a retrofit car for 475km on one charge
