Warangal Urban: In an unfortunate incident, an intermediate girl student who was caught copying during the Sanskrit examination at RD College centre at Kishanpura jumped off the third floor in a suicide attempt. The incident occurred on the first day of the Intermediate examinations, which began on Wednesday.
The student was identified as Polasani Rakshana Rao, daughter of Venkat Rao, of SR College Girls Campus. She was rushed to the MGM hospital for treatment, where the doctors after examining her, said she was out of danger. She, however, suffered fractures on both her thigh bones (femur).
Speaking to Telangana Today, District Intermediate Education Officer (DIEO) M Lingaiah said that Rakshana was caught red-handed while she was copying. Even as the invigilators were discussing the issue, she ran towards the balcony of the third floor and jumped off the building, much to their shock. Following this, the staff immediately shifted her to MGM hospital and later on to a private hospital for better treatment. She reportedly took the extreme step to avoid the embarrassment that would be caused if a case was booked against her for copying.
