Canadian suspected to be kidnapped by Maoists in Chhattisgarh

Hyderabad: Chhattisgarh police launched massive search operation for a foreign national went missing in Singamadugu forests of Sukuma district on Monday.  

According to reports reaching here, John, a citizen of Canada went on a bike ride into the forests was suspected to have been kidnapped by the naxalites of the CPI Maoist. John left Mumbai on March 14 for Chhattisgarh and his travel was planned in advance by a travel agent, who is now in touch with Chhattisgarh police.

The naxalites are on the rampage in Sukuma district for the past few weeks.Police stepped up combing in the area as 12 CRPF Jawans were gunned down by the Maoists recently. Sukuma is close to the Maoist- dominated Malkangiri in Odisha. Surveillance has been stepped up in the forest routes leading to Malkangiri district.

Canadian abducted by Maoists in Bastar (Report filed earlier)

Hyderabad: A Canadian national who went on a motorcycle into Sukma forests in Bastar of Chhattisgarh, was reportedly abducted by Maoists on Monday, according to reports reaching here. Security forces have taken up combing operations to rescue John. But they are
wary of an ambush.
