Ashika Gopal Padukone, who is famously known as Avani and Nayani, has made a mark for herself on small screen. Although she was born and raised in Bengaluru, Ashika is fluent in Telugu and connected with the Telugu audience in a short span of time. She hails from the beautiful coastal regions of Tulunadu, near Udupi.
Acting happened all of a sudden to Ashika as she has an engineering degree in Computer Science. She had debuted as Triveni on Star Suvarna’s popular teleserial ‘Triveni Sangama’.
“I started acting in a‘imaginary’ role in the teleserial ‘Niharika’. My uncle works for small screen and one day he called and asked me to audition. It was random, but I got selected for the role. It was quite surprising as I was still pursuing my degree. While I could not take up any major roles, this one was easy for me to handle,” says this ‘Trinayani’ actor.
Ashika was new to town and was worried about staying in a metropolitan city. “Everything was new to me as I never stayed away from my parents. The producer had asked me to listen to the script and decide whether or not to act. I had really liked the script and said yes to it,” says Ashika.
“I thank the audience for accepting me and treating me like their family. I am truly blessed,” says Ashika, who learned Telugu in just two months.
This pandemic made Ashika learn many things. “I started cooking and taking care of myself. I’m also adapting to the ‘new normal’. Everything changed even during shooting. While shooting for ‘Trinayani’, we had marriage scenes where we had e all the safety measures to get the shoot done,” shares the actor.
Ashika has acted in three languages — Telugu, Kannada and Tamil — so far. She gained recognition for ‘Kathalo Rajakumari’ (Maa TV) and is currently playing the female lead in ‘Trinayani’.
