Hyderabad: Apollo Life on Friday launched an internationally Pilates Fitness Centre on its premises in Jubilee Hills here.
Addressing a press conference here, Apollo Life Managing Director Upasna Kamineni said the initiative in association with celebrity trainer Yasmin Karachiwala’s Body Image, Mumbai, would offer the uniquely designed and powerful Pilates fitness programme from Saturday.
“Pilates is a popular and preferred workout amongst all age groups for its low impact, safe and suitable conditioning routine. It may not aid in building bulky muscles, but the movements serve to lengthen and strengthen numerous muscles of the body,” said Yasmin.
If practised consistently, Pilates improves flexibility, builds strength and develops control and endurance in the entire body while significantly reducing the risk of injury associated with other workouts, she said.
“Pilates while conditioning the whole body ensures no muscle is over or under worked out. It is ideal for those who desire to engage their muscles in a gentle manner but still get a wholesome workout,” she said.
“This century-old physical fitness system is pretty popular in the west and fitness enthusiasts in our country are just discovering the comfort in working out this way and its benefits, especially after witnessing the wonders Pilates did in shaping up their Bollywood idols,” Yasmin said.
Upasana Kamineni said that Pilates can bring about numerous benefits including improved core strength, flexibility, posture and balance while being easy on joints and not taking a toll on your body. “It’s a great way to get fit and feel rejuvenated,” she said.
