Hyderabad: Even as some States have come out with apprehensions over the Centre’s decision to allow domestic flights, national carrier Air India has come out with a video assuring passengers of safety on its aircraft as flight services resume.

In the video, HR Jagannath, Chief Executive Officer, Air India Engineering Services Limited, says every surface inside and outside the aircraft is cleaned, mostly using isopropyl alcohol to wipe down all surfaces. From cockpits to toilets, crew cabins, carpets, every seat and seat handle and every part of the aircraft is disinfected, he said.

The aircraft have been maintained in extreme detail when they were grounded during the lockdown, from the engines to the landing gear, electrical systems, he said, adding that the Engineering Services teams, both technical and non-technical, were working 24×7 to ensure the fleet was airworthy to resume flight operations.

All the aircraft are fitted with High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters, to ensure 99.99 per cent viruses and bacteria are removed off the flight, officials say in the video.

“We are fully prepared to fly our passengers with each and every safety measures in place and our experienced crew members on board to travel together in the era of #flythenewnormal with confidence and assurance,” Air India officials said.
