Hyderabad: After wearing a dull look last year due to coronavirus pandemic, city parks, the hangout spots and go to places for families and children particularly during weekends, have now started to attract visitors in large numbers.
The parks maintained by Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) – Lumbini Park, NTR Garden and Sanjeevaiah Park were abuzz with huge crowds this weekend.
According to HMDA, the visitors count has been gradually increasing in the parks in last two months. If the monthly footfall in last December was 1.83 lakh in all the three parks around Hussain Sagar, the numbers went up to 3.34 lakh and is inching towards the usual pre-Covid rush.
On an average, Lumbini Park, NTR Garden and Sanjeevaiah Park are registering 3,000 to 4,000 visitors a day. This Sunday, visitors count was more than that of public holidays, officials said.
The parks which remained closed during the lockdown have re-opened to visitors across the city on September 26 following unlock relaxations. However, initially they sported a deserted look with fewer visitors enjoying the weekends.
Since January, there has been a significant jump in footfalls and HMDA is expecting 100 per cent rush in coming weekends. This apart, popular places including zoo park, Charminar and Shilparamam also teamed with visitors in large numbers this weekend.
