92 per cent of Covid beds empty in Telangana

Hyderabad: The State health authorities on Tuesday have maintained that there are ample vacant beds available in Government hospitals in Telangana and urged Covid-19 positive patients to make use of them, instead of unnecessarily visiting private hospitals and getting disappointed due to lack of beds.

The Government hospitals across Telangana State have established a capacity of 17,081 Covid-19 beds, of which 11,928 are isolations beds, 3,537 are oxygen beds, 1,145 are ICUs beds and 471 are ventilator beds. As on Tuesday, the bed occupancy in Government Hospitals is 7.8 per cent and a total of 92.2 per cent of beds are vacant.

Gandhi Hospital has been identified only to admit serious Covid-19 cases. The other major hospitals in Hyderabad where suspects and moderately symptomatic cases are admitted are District Hospital King Koti, Government Chest Hospital, Fever Hospital, Nallakunta.

The asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic patients requesting for institutional quarantine are admitted in Nature Cure Hospital, Government Nizamia Hospital, Government Ayurveda Hospital and Government Homeopathy Hospital.

Based on the clinical requirements, beds will be provided and treatment will be given free of cost in Government hospitals. Sufficient quantities of personal protection equipment (PPE) and medicines are available in hospitals.
