790 foreign returnees identified in Nirmal: Collector

Nirmal: District Collector Md Musharraf Ali on Tuesday sought the cooperation of the public in the district administration’s efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus. He said 790 persons were identified in the district with travel history to various countries.

Speaking to the media here along with Superintendent of Police C Shashidhar Raju, Ali requested the citizens to extend their support in implementing the lockdown.

He informed that 17 of the 790 foreign returnees tested negative when they were hospitalised with coronavirus symptoms. He urged those who arrived in the district from abroad to undergo home quarantine for two weeks.

The Collector also urged the public not to venture out unnecessarily and said a control room (1800-425-5566) was set up for enabling the civilians to report about persons with symptoms.

He added that 7,800 tonnes of rice would be supplied to 2.08 lakh holders of white ration card for two months. Shashidhar Raju requested the public to stay home and said 120 vehicles were seized for violating the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, in the district.
