69 trees uprooted in Hyderabad rain


Hyderabad: Heavy rainfall coupled with thunderstorm and lightning in the city on Friday ended up uprooting 69 trees and damaging branches of another 20 trees.

In a short span of just 15 minutes, the city received 5.50 cm rainfall and it was accompanied by thunderous winds. A maximum of 24 trees uprooted in North Zone, 14 in West Zone, 21 in Central and 10 in South Zone.

The GHMC immediately took up the task of clearing the roads. Among the trees affected in the rains, 56 were Paylotto farm trees and remaining were Gulmohar, Subabul and other types, according to a press release.
