Nalgonda: The police on Friday arrested 12 persons, on charges of making fake pattadar passbooks for enabling farmers to get loans from banks with the fake documents in Miryalaguda division in the district.
The arrested have been identified as Kambampati Srinu (38), a resident of Bheemanapally village, Dhanavath Nageshwar Rao (42), a native of Kethavath thanda, Islavath Hari (38), a resident of Islavath thanda, Challa Srinu (35), a native of Halia of Anumula mandal, Mudhavath Shanker, a resident of Hyderabad, Mudhavath Varsam (30), Mudhavath Jawaharlal (30) and Mudhavath Lakspathi (45), natives of Puttamandi, Mudavath Sakru(35), a native of Narlenga thanda, Ramavath Dasru (32), a resident of Yerragunta thanda, Munavath Somla (32), a native of Munavath thanda and Gaddam Hanuman Reddy (57), a native of Chepoor village. Another person Kethavath Ramesh, who prepared fake Mee Seva Pahanis and 1(B) certificates, is at large.
Presenting the accused before media, district SP DV Srinivas Rao informed that the arrested persons have been creating pattadar passbooks for sanctioning crop loans to farmers for the last three years. The gang used to charge money from the farmers, he added.
He has also informed that 154 fake pattadar passbooks, 28 fake rubber stamps of government officials and Rs 1.91 lakhs cash were seized from the possession of gang members. “The role of bank officials, who have been granting lones to farmers for the last three years, is also being investigated,” he added.
